Sound Effects

The ultimatum clearly set, I walked the time;
The space between us growing thin, I swallowed then my pride.
Click! And chik! It loaded into place
And soon I found the iron pointed at my face.

“Don’t you dare try, don’t you dare try.”
He spoke to me with long-established contempt,
And my words broke into hot air before my face.
The silence stretched on, and I languished in its effect.

Pow! As an odd weight found my insensate brain;
And still perceiving, I thought I was to suffer.
But then the weight spread to my legs
And I knew I had somehow left altogether.

“Did you hear about the boy? He gave it all those he loved. They found him stinking on the couch, his eyes firmly set to the fixture above.”

With the cool wind whistling through, I shook my head. I had not.
