More

Silent thunder in my head
Words that flow
Am I dead? Or living in tow
Of giant abscesses of trivial
Notions
TV oceans
Bleeding smiles at the bathroom mirror
Morning coffee and evening beer

It’s funny how simple we live
As if in negative reaction to the loopy glitter
That we adulate and adore
I’ve always wanted more

Living titans
Bare their teeth
Are they for real? Photographs
That we say proves so
I don’t believe it
Not for a minute
They’re spiteful people underneath
Haggard and brutal
And beautiful

It’s funny how complex we live
As if to break from established molds
We, neurotic, twitchy, bitchy
Sad and lonely, nothing more

I am one
And so are they
A brief account of the status quo
Destroyed at death
On final breath
We slowly whisper
“If only I did more.”
